Post-screening discussion

Due to an overwhelming turnout last Saturday, the Woods Hole Public Library will be showing an encore presentation of One Big Home on Saturday, January 12 at 3 PM. Director Thomas Bena will not be in attendance for this film screening, but we hope that those who would still like a chance to see this powerful film and have a discussion among neighbors will stick around to do so!

One Big Home, twelve years in the making, follows one carpenter's journey to understand the trend toward giant houses. When he feels complicit in wrecking the place he calls home, Thomas Bena takes off his tool belt and picks up a camera. Bumping up against angry homeowners and builders who look the other way, he works with his community and attempts to pass a new bylaw to limit house size.

As Mr. Bena has said “I hope my film will spark a discussion about the way we regard housing, land ownership, and the economic forces that shape our communities. Rather than throwing up our arms and saying ‘you can’t fight progress,’ communities can stand up for themselves, their way of life, and the natural environment.”
